Family Therapy

What is Family Therapy?

Family therapy helps family members recognize patterns of behavior and looks at issues that affect the families’ ability to function in a healthy manner. It can also help individuals build healthier and stronger relationships, learn how to deal effectively with conflict, improve how family members communicate, and learn how to set boundaries for healthier interactions between family members. Family therapy can help members learn to emotionally connect with one another on a healthier level.

Healthy Families are Strong Families

Internal conflict is a normal part of life and all families experience conflict. But when conflict becomes divisive and leads to unhealthy patterns of responding and interacting, it’s time to seek help from an objective third party professional such as a therapist. A therapist can help identify negative and unhealthy patterns of interacting, teach family members about the importance of boundaries and how to set them within the family system, teach family members how to treat one another respectfully, and highlight current family strengths and how to build on those strengths. Don’t let pent up emotions cause a rift with those you love, seek help today. Healthy families are strong families.

The Difference Between Couples, Marriage and Family Therapies

Couples therapy is different than marriage therapy in that couples therapy focuses more on the interpersonal relationship and the variables affecting how you and your partner relate. Partners in couples counseling may or may not be married. Marriage counseling focuses more on specific issues within the marriage that cause problems for the partners such as learning how to respectfully disagree during conflict and helping couples reconnect emotionally and get their relationship back on track. Family therapy involves members of the family system and helps members learn how to set and maintain boundaries, teach them healthy ways to communicate with one another during conflict, and highlight strengths of the family and learn how to build on those strengths.

Does It Actually Help The Family?

Family therapy can be a powerful tool to help heal families that have been in turmoil. It can help family members take responsibility for their part in the turmoil and help members learn how to deal with conflict in ways that are respectful to all members. Family therapy can help with the following:
Identification of Problems in The Family

Once everyone is present in a room with a therapist or a psychiatrist, identification of where the problems and faults lie quickly becomes evident. The mental health expert will assess the interpersonal dynamics of the family under observation and will come up with their assessment of where the faults are. It doesn’t matter if the family counseling is online or at the family therapy center.

Strategies of Finding Resolutions in the Family Conflicts

Our family consulting services ensure resolutions are found for ongoing family conflicts. Experts of family therapy services will try to uncover these conflicts by having one-to-one sessions to discuss with each family member, or doing all-family sessions or a combination of both.
